About the Sunderman Family

Paul and Laurel have been married since 2001, and live happily in the town of Carmichael, a well-established and beautiful suburb of Sacramento, CA, with their dog, Abby, their cats, Lucy and Molly, and most importantly, their adorable son, Adam. Adam was born January 11, 2006, and has brought a great deal of joy to the Sunderman household (not to mention extended family.)  The Photo Gallery features a pictorial history of Adam's life so far, from his newborn photos to the present day. Paul works at Our Lady of the Assumption School as a children's librarian, although his responsibilities don't stop there!  He also serves as the Student Council Advisor, Academic Decathlon Coach, Golf Coach, Chess Club Sponsor, and most recently, he has begun working as a Teacher's Aid for Junior High Math. How is that for keeping busy?  Laurel has been working for Sacramento State University since 2002, first in the English Department, and now part-time as the Department Secretary for

small, interdisciplinary program sure to grow rapidly in the coming years as America's citizens continue to live longer, healthier lives.

Paul holds a B.A. in History, a minor in Geography, and an M.A. in History with a concentration in Humanities. Laurel holds a B.A. in English, a Certificate of Advanced Study in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), a Certificate of Advanced Study in Teaching College Composition, and plans to finish her M.A. in English in 2007. As a requirement for the Composition Ceritificate, Laurel worked for three semesters as a Teaching Associate at Sacramento State, and she developed an impressive teaching portfolio. She taught both English 1A (College Composition) and English 1 (Basic Writing Skills). Once she finishes her M.A., she hopes to teach again, at least part-time. Paul and Laurel both obtained all their degrees from Sacramento State University, and feel fortunate for the excellent education they received there.

The Sunderman Family attends church each Sunday at Trinity Espiscopal Church in Sutter Creek, where Laurel's father is the priest. Paul and Laurel, along with Laurel's mother, Kathy, enjoy playing music for the contemporary service each week, while Adam has fun playing in the newly remodeled church nursery.

All in all, it's a wonderful life, and it seems to just get better and better.
